If you are selling your home, many of these low cost, easy to do items will give your more than 100% return on your investment.

If you are in the market for a new home and see someone who skimped with curb appeal thus causing more buyers to keep driving and not even look inside, this means less competition for you.

Here are the 6 curb appeal ideas to try:

  1. Get a new clean, cheery and inexpensive Welcome mat to welcome your buyers.  While you’re outside, check those light bulbs and house numbers, both should be nice and bright.

  2. COLOR! Add some color by hanging plants and planting colorful annuals in pots. Except for winter, every season has an plants that are blooming. The pots themselves can add a punch of color as well. Plastic shutters are easily painted and make for a quick weekend project.

  3. Trim the landscaping around your property. Trim the bushes and overgrown trees that surround your home, this will make it look more inviting and more light will shine thought to the interior as well.

  4. Power washer- your new best friend! Few things are more inviting than a fresh, clean deck or a pool area. Siding and windows are easily cleaned with a power washer. Make sure you use the correct setting for the type of surface you are cleaning. TIP – Did you know that taking pictures of a wet driveway will make them look better? Your curb appeal will thank you!

  5. Hide your garbage cans. It’s the equivalent of shoving your shoes under the bed, but hey, it looks so much better. Find a place in the garage or build a garbage shelter. It doesn’t have to be a big project; there are many DIY options out there you can do in a day.

  6. Do a walk thought. Pretend you are the buyer and check out your own curb appeal. Did you notice a few things you need to do? Maybe the roof could use a cleaning or the grass needs to be cut more often? Do the windows need to be cleaned? Or maybe the curtains need to be a different color or opened?
