These Sussex County Library events go beyond the book!

Shake Out Your Sillies!

Code Mode

Kids entering 7th and 8th grades who have a strong interest in computers and learning to program sharpen their skills and find out what they can really do with a computer during this free, month-long program. (No experience necessary.) By the end of the last meeting you’ll know the basics of coding, the fundamentals of Java programming, and improve your problem-solving skills. Coding Club is being run by an 11th grade AP Computer Science student with two years of Java education.

Make Mine Mediterranean

Love Spanish olives, real Feta cheese, and Italian wine? You’re well on the way to adopting the Mediterranean diet! Eating Mediterranean is a life choice to incorporate lots of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, healthy grains and fish into your everyday eating. It’s olive oil versus butter and spice versus salt. And it’s delicious! ShopRite Dietitians Tara Gerke and Catherine Sebastian prepare a Mediterranean-style dish for everyone to taste as you learn more about incorporating these healthy life choices in the Discover and Taste the Mediterranean Diet event. Registration required.

  • Main Library, Newton: June 29, 2pm-3pm
