Commemorate Memorial Day With Parades And More Today

May the clouds go away and let the sun shine through---it’s Memorial Day!  Team Nest Builder recommends enjoying today around Sussex County with these parades and more:

Celebrate Memorial Day in Sussex County


10 a.m Memorial Day Parade held by Pvt. Peter S.Hotalen Post 157 of the American Legion, starting at Frankford School, 2 Pines Road, Branchville.


The Byram Township Fire Department holds its annual Memorial Day parade with line-up beginning at 10:30 a.m., at the Cranberry Lake Firehouse on Route 206 and the parade proceeding to the Cranberry Lake Clubhouse for a brief ceremony. Refreshments will be provided and served at the firehouse after the parade.


The Franklin American Legion Post 132 will host a parade from the Legion Post at 10:45 a.m. The parade will proceed on Rutherford Avenue to the Main Street war memorial across from the Borough Hall. A memorial service will be held there.


The American Legion Blue Ridge Post No. 164 hosts the 150th Memorial Day parade at 10 a.m., starting by the post office, proceeding down Route 46 to Mountain Avenue, and concluding with a service at Union Cemetery.


American Legion Post 423 will conduct Memorial Day services at noon in front of the post on Legion Road.  Refreshments will be served once the service is completed.


Montague will hold a Memorial Day service led by Boy Scout Troop 98 and Girl Scout Troop 70840 at 11 a.m. at Montague Town Hall, 277 Clove Road.


The Newton Memorial Day parade will be held at 10 a.m., starting at Lower Spring Street and ending at Memory Park, where a memorial service will be held.


The Sparta Memorial Day parade will be held at 10 a.m., starting at the Lake Mohawk Marina and ending at the Mohawk Avenue School, where a Memorial Day ceremony will take place.  A complimentary lunch and refreshments will be available at the Veterans of Foreign Wars afterward.


American Legion Musconetcong Post 278 will conduct a Memorial Day parade at 1 p.m.  The parade will begin at the College Road School in Netcong and end at American Legion Post 278 on Route 183 in Stanhope.


Stillwater Township will hold a Memorial Day observance at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on Pond Brook Road.


Sussex American Legion Post 213 will hold its annual services at the following locations: Sussex Firehouse, 10 a.m.; Deckertown, 10:30 a.m.; Fairview, 11 a.m.; and Clove, 11:30 a.m.
