Wednesday, July 3rd

Lake Mohawk Country Club Annual Fireworks Display, Sparta

The Lake Mohawk Country Club (LMCC) sponsors the annual fireworks display beginning at dusk (approx. 9 p.m.) Wednesday, July 3rd, with a rain date of Tuesday, July 4th. Make sure you arrive early, grab your chairs and find your perfect viewing area before space disappears! Non-LMCC members can enjoy the fireworks, too, by parking in nearby public lots and walking into the Plaza area, including the public section of the boardwalk and bridle trails around the lake.  Also, glimpse the fireworks from the Sparta Theater Center, Mohawk Avenue School, and other areas around town. FREE

Fourth of July Revolutionary Hike, Morristown

Morris County Historical Society Executive Director Amy Curry leads two hikes (at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.) of the most significant, albeit unknown, Revolutionary-Era resources in Morris County, the archaeological site of Jacob Ford, Jr.’s powder mill. The hike will take visitors roughly 1/4 mile from Acorn Hall to the site of the mill along the Whippany River. Hikes last about an hour and are FREE. Meet at Acorn Hall, 68 Lafayette Avenue, Morristown.

Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence, Newton

Don your uniforms and tri-corner hats for this annual reading of the Declaration of Independence at 10 a.m on The Green in Newton. Rain or shine.  FREE

Blairstown ‘Old-Fashioned' Fourth, Blairstown

Blairstown holds an old-fashioned Independence Day celebration including live music, food, shopping, historical displays and tours, an annual pie baking contest, patriotic pet contest, Oreo stacking, pie eating and more. A "kid village" will offer activities and games for children, including a dunk tank and bouncy house.  Rain or shine, from 10:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m at Footbridge Park, Footbridge Lane, Blairstown. FREE

4th of July Parade, Sparta

The 4th of July parade begins Thursday, July 4th at 11 am. The parade route runs along Sparta's East Shore Trail, through White Deer Plaza and ending at the Sparta Library/Mohawk Avenue School.  Get your spot, gather candy and catch cool groups and rides! FREE

High Crest Lodge July 4th Parade, West Milford

Head to 112 High Crest Drive in West Milford for the High Crest Lodge July 4th parade, beginning at 8:30 a.m and running until 10 a.m, Thursday, July 4th.  The parade route will run from Apshawa Preserve on Northwood Drive to the High Crest Lake beach on High Crest Drive. FREE

Ski Hawk 4th of July Waterski Show, Sparta

Head to Lake Mohawk Beach 1 on East Shore Trail at 11 a.m. for this amazing waterski show! FREE

Denville July 4th Fireworks 2019, Denville

Head to Gardner Field at 2 Savage Road in Denville for their 4th of July Celebration featuring music by the Street Hassle Band starting at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 9:15 p.m. FREE

Revolutionary Times Celebration at Morristown Green, Morristown

Enjoy a day full of Independence Day celebration activities at the Morristown Green, starting with a march from the Ford Mansion (30 Washington Place, Morristown) to the Morristown Green at 11:15 a.m.; followed by the Loose Canons singers at 11:30 a.m.; the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence by costumed interpreters at noon (In case of inclement weather, the reading will be held inside the Presbyterian Church on the Green, 57 East Park Place); tours of the sanctuary and graveyard of the First Presbyterian Church (57 East Park Place) following the Reading; and ending with the "Stars and Pipes" Organ Concert at St. Peter's Episcopal Church at 1:30 p.m. (Corner of Miller and South Streets). FREE

British vs Colonists Laser Tag, Wantage

Saturday, July 6th

24th Annual Vernon Fireworks Display, Vernon

The 24th Annual Fireworks Display, including food trucks and a live D.J., takes place at Lounsberry Hollow Middle School on Sammis Road. Gates open at 5 p.m.  Tickets are $20. for a family or group of four. Rain date: Sunday, July 7, or the next clear night. All proceeds benefit the Highland Lakes and Vernon volunteer fire departments.
