Locate a 9/11 Memorial Event near you, and pause to remember those lost 17 years ago...
Annual Memorial Ceremony takes place at 10am on September 11 at Fireman’s Park, located directly in front of Hopatcong Borough Hall at 111 River Styx Road. Borough Councilman Bradley Hoferkamp, who was in lower Manhattan on 9/11, is among those scheduled to speak.
A ceremony organized by members of the Sussex County PBA Local #138 will be held at Sussex County Community College (SCCC) in Newton on Tuesday, September 11 at 9 am at the College’s 9/11 Memorial on the Connor Green, 1 College Hill Road, Newton.
The Sheriff’s Honor Guard will be on hand to present the colors and the Newton VFW Post #5360 will perform a 21-gun salute. Local Police, Fire and EMS Departments will lay wreaths at the base of the memorial during the ceremony. Local vocalists and bagpipers will also bring their talents to the remembrance ceremony. The Sparta Elks Lodge will hold a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on the plaza in front of Sparta Township Hall located at 65 Main Street at 6:30pm on September 11. As part of the observance, the Sparta Elks are inviting other township organizations to participate by bringing their own American flags as well as their individual organizational banners or flags. The Boroughs of Butler and Bloomingdale will host a Candlelight Walk starting at 7:30pm Tuesday, September 11. Guests are invited to gather at Sloan Park on Hamburg Turnpike in Bloomingdale at 7pm for a brief ceremony before proceeding down Hamburg Tpke. to Main St. in Butler and continuing to Butler Park for a Memorial Service. Glow sticks will be provided.

Register at http://roxburynj.us/dayofservice to help others on Roxbury’s 9/11 Day of Service, 8 am to noon September 15. Volunteers are asked to give up to three hours of their time to do yard work at the homes of Roxbury senior citizens, work at a food drive or clean-up at several Roxbury parks.
